LabourFile.org – A dynamic website powered by a Content
Management System CEC, the parent organization
of Labour File, wanted to juxtapose its offline journal and
literature with the online platform, by transitioning online,
a storehouse of stories of hope, aspirations, despair, struggles
and alternatives of workers and their organizations. By implementing
LabourFile.org, Icreon has precisely achieved this, by bringing
to the end-user, information with the perspective that has
a firm grounding in the local situation, while being open
to the global, political and economic processes and the probable
impact it may have on the workers in the country.
Client Profile
Centre for Education and Communication (CEC), is a Delhi based
organization, founded in 1982. Since its inception, CEC has
actively supported organizations and people movements, working
on rights based approach. Since 1994 and over the years, CEC
has grown to be a centre for workers' education and participatory
labour research. While learning from labour movements, it
actively contributes to widening their horizon. CEC critically
observes the economy's integration into the global scenario
and the consequent changes in the employment structure and
nature.
Business Requirement

required to push information finally viewable by end-users,
through a lucid navigable and searchable process.

Solution
Icreon implemented an entirely CMS driven online bi-monthly
journal of labour and economic affairs published by CEC. The
website contains both static and database driven dynamic sections.
The current system incorporates a site administration console,
which allows CEC staff (Administrator) to manage content for
fixed sections.
LabourFile.org is divided into 2 sections – The
SITE ADMINISTRATION CONSOLE and the SITE
VISITOR SECTION.
I. Site Administration Console (Back-End):
Manages dynamic content, user registration and subscription
details. This section is available to CEC staff members (Administrators
only). The site administration console assists the administrator
to perform the following tasks:
- Manage Administrator settings
- Add & Manage Sub Administrators
- Add & Manage Labour News
- Add & Manage Issue Contents
- Add & Manage News & Articles
- Add & Manage all Users & Subscribers
II. Site Visitor Section (Front-End): This
section is accessible to visitors, registered members and
subscribers and is a combination of static and dynamic pages.
The home page contains a list of labour news in the left panel
and the latest issue’s articles in the main panel. Users
can also access news sections from primary navigable links.
The current system also maintains an archive of labour news,
accessible through search criteria. Besides this, the solution
encompasses features such quick search, dynamic page/content
generation, CMS driven picture galleries etc.
